This was before we went out to dinner together one more time, after which we brought him back to his room, and ALL cried in a big family hug.

Hi Karin, glad to see you got Tall Son deposited safe and sound. Tears can be good. He'll be home for Fall/Winter break and I'm sure you'll all get to visit again. Most schools have a family day during Homecoming tme.

Look how big he is! He grew about 10 feet since that one time I saw him at the shop! I was just thinking about you guys and am glad to see you both smiling as bittersweet as it is.

You just did what one day was unthinkable but what you worked his whole life for. Isn't parenting a fine puzzle? Congratulations all around!

Awwwww! How sweet! And look at you...you look like his big sister, not his mother!

Hang in there! Somewhere I have an Ellen Goodman column from the late 90's about Chelsea Clinton going off to college. I had the inspiration to save it for myself when why kids' times came. I've shared it with lots of parents over the last 10 years and now I will look for it for you and your husband.
Peace, Ellen
