Now they tell me!

Just when I decide to make a turkey for Thanksgiving this year after 20 years of not, I find THIS.
The recipes sound enticing....but I like having a table with food grown near us (Northeastern US).

What do you think? What are your favorite Thanksgiving side dishes?
Do you include ethnic foods, family favorites?

I love that blog too.

I grew up in France so our Thanksgiving feast is a hybrid.I roast a turkey (the smallest I can find -- they taste better and we don't need days-worth of leftovers); side dishes always include mashed potatoes and dessert is a very French tarte Tatin.

My childhood Thanksgivings are filled with good memories of a combined Italian-American festival of food! My grandmother cooked everything, starting with her homemade escarole soup (which I managed to create without a recipe because Nana cooked by feel)a large pan or two of homemade lasagna and then the turkey with all the American traditional trimmings. My Thanksgivings now include the escarole soup and we alternate the turkey dinner one year and lasagna another.
